Four Tips for Selecting Fall Outerwear for School

Four Tips for Selecting Fall Outerwear for School

Chilly in the morning but summer-like by noon.

So goes the fall weather in Acadiana. So how do you outfit your student for fall school days?

Before you make an outerwear purchase for fall's crisp, cool weather, we've got a few tips that can help you decide which would work best for your student.

1. Select a top that your child can easily take on and off at school. Button-up Sweaters and zip-up Hoodies work well for elementary school kids. These lighter fabrics take the chill off in the mornings and are easy to remove at school.

2. Cardigan Sweaters are popular choices for teen girls. "Our middle and high school girl customers love our cardigans. They tell us they're the softest school sweaters they've ever worn, " said Michele Meijer, Uniformity co-owner. "Our Classroom Cardigans come in four colors and can easily be personalized with a school crest or initial monogram."

3. And for the guys? Long sleeve Polos and the ever-popular Hoodie are still favorites for middle and high school age boys. Our Polos come in two textures: smooth Interlock knit or rugged Pique knit. Our easy to wash and wear poly-cotton Hoodies are guys' favorites, with drawstring hoods and front pouch pockets, easily pulled off and stuffed in a backpack by noon.

4. Whatever choice you make, here's the most important tip: write your child's name on the tag! Outerwear garments are the most plentiful items in every school's Lost-and-Found box. Make it easy for your child to find outerwear left behind by labeling his/her garment with a fabric marker.
