How We Got Here
In 2009, long-time pals Michele and Janice approached their children's school principal with the idea of acquiring the school's uniform swap shop to start their "side hustle", a school uniform resale business. The principal gave a thumbs up...and lots of laundry later, Uniformity was launched.
Within two years, Uniformity became a retailer of new uniforms, approved by three schools to offer emblemed apparel.
Where We Are Now
Fifteen years and four moves later, Uniformity grew from a fledgling resale business into a full-service retail + resale enterprise, serving most of the private schools in the Lafayette area. Over the years, the store secured the nation's top school uniform brands, and added top quality embroidery and alterations.
In 2022, Michele retired and Janice became full owner. Joining Janice in the business is her daughter Avery LeBlanc as general manager. Uniformity now occupies a great 5,000 sf location, the anchor store of the busy Pinhook Village retail center in Lafayette. Uniformity now serves 22 schools along the Gulf Coast, from Victoria, TX to Franklin, LA and serves an ever-growing collection of customers nationwide.

A little about our business.
Uniformity is a school uniform store specializing in new and resale uniforms. Our customers are primarily parents whose children attend private or charter schools in the Lafayette area. We offer new uniforms for 14 schools in the Lafayette area, as well as a few schools farther away. A portion of our store consists of resale pieces that customers turn in for store credit. Most of our sales are done in the store, but we have a growing online customer base. About 25% of our 2024 sales were online.
The summer is the busiest season for our store. Most customers do the bulk of their shopping during the summer, and come in during the school year for additional or seasonal pieces.
During the summer, we’re open Monday-Saturday. During the school year, we’re open Monday-Thursday, and shorter hours on Fridays and Saturdays.
